‘And you’re kinda not invited.’ The phrase was branded in her mind, carved in stone. She hadn’t expected Blair’s rejection, but then, her best friend was always unreadable and unpredictable with her actions. Her best friend was excluding her from the party she was throwing. What did she miss? Apparently, she had missed a lot. Blair had turned her back on Serena, and it stung, greater than any break up with a boy she had. She was angry, disappointed, but most of all she was hurt by Blair’s rough manner regarding her. Who was this girl in front of her, dismissing Serena’s presence? She almost couldn’t recognize her best friend anymore. Or should she say ex-best friend? Blair’s excuses were lame, she easily coul invite S to the party, the matter was she didn’t want to. Shrugging her shoulders, Serena did her best to pretend that Blair’s behavior didn’t bother her. “No, it’s okay. I’ve got a lot of stuff to do anyway.” Her voice was calm and steady, not revealing her fury or hurt.
